Timberlands | Our Forest Stewardship

Our Vision for the Responsible Management of Timberlands

Sustainable Forestry: A commitment to our future through excellence in timberland management.

Timber is a renewable resource offering countless benefits to society, from lumber and paper products to recreational opportunities to helping ecosystems provide clean air and water. We recognize that the sustainable use of this resource requires a careful approach, balancing economic and social needs with the forest's ecological potential and limitations.

We thin our natural stands, allowing for natural regeneration of the timber, if possible creating ideal wildlife habitat. In our pine plantations, we replant harvested areas with genetically improved seedlings, using state-of-the-art artificial regeneration techniques. These faster growing, higher quality trees create an opportunity for us to increase the future quality and value of our timberlands.

We are proud of our commitment to practice sustainable forestry on our timberlands. Our timberlands have been third-party certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program. This program is based on the premise that responsible environmental behavior and sound business can co-exist.
