Delivering the Greatest Value from Our Timberlands
Timber is managed on a sustainable basis, meeting Sustainable Forestry Initiative requirements.
Forestar owns over 137,000 acres with timber, primarily in Georgia, Alabama and Texas. We harvest the timber on a sustainable basis and often establish views, vistas and openings to increase diversity through a process called "forestscaping". This not only enhances the potential value and marketability of properties but also helps achieve biological and conservation objectives. Timber harvested is sold to customers, while biomass can provide a renewable energy source. Our timberlands are certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative – a process which guides our commitment to high standards of forest ecosystem and fish and wildlife habitat management.
