Flavious Smith

Chief Oil and Gas Officer

Flavious has served as our Executive Vice President since August 2008 and was named Chief Oil & Gas Officer in 2012.

Flavious has served as our Executive Vice President since August 2008 and was named Chief Oil & Gas Officer in 2012. He served as Division Land Manager for EOG Resources, Inc. from 2005 to 2008. He owned and operated Flavious Smith Petroleum Properties from 1989 to 2005, and previously held various leadership positions with several oil and gas and energy-related companies.

Flavious' background includes over 25 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations, including key management and leadership positions focused on business development, acquisitions, joint ventures, and operations. Flavious received Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law.

Rick Dollins

Senior Vice-President – Oil & Gas - Southern Division

Rick has served as our Senior Vice President of Oil and Gas - Southern Division since January 2013.

Rick has served as our Senior Vice President of Oil and Gas - Southern Division since January 2013. Rick manages the day to day operations of the Southern Division.

Rick served as our Vice President of Oil and Gas Land Management from September 2008 to January 2013. Prior to joining Forestar in 2008, Rick was the Land Manager and Land Advisor for the Western division of EOG Resources in Fort Worth.

Rick has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, focused on business development, acquisition and divestitures and joint ventures. He has experience in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.

Rick received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin in 1979.

Peter Dallas

Vice President-Oil & Gas Reporting, Reserves, Budgeting & Forecasting

Peter serves as Vice President of Oil & Gas Reporting, Reserves, Budgeting & Forecasting.

Peter serves as Vice President of Oil & Gas Reporting, Reserves, Budgeting & Forecasting. Peter has over 30 years of experience in the exploration and production business as well as experience in gas processing, refining and marketing, coal, geothermal, manufactured utilities and electricity generation. Peter has oil and gas experience in almost all areas of the United States and in almost all countries around the world. Peter has held positions in the oil, gas, and energy business in the capacities of reservoir engineering, strategic planning, project economics, investor relations, acquisitions, divestitures, energy management, marketing, contract negotiations, and petroleum and financial consulting with large independent oil and gas corporations, as well as an independent proprietor.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Mike O'Donnell

Exploration Manager - Southern Division

Mike serves as Exploration Manager.

Mike serves as Exploration Manager. For over 25 years Mike has gained valuable experience working for both small independents and large public companies. He began his oil and gas exploration work in Oklahoma. As a geologist for an integrated, independent driller, operator and producer he had numerous, deep basin, exploration projects drilled early in his career, including the discovery of a million barrel oil field.

Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rochester with a combined major in Geology and Biology, and a Master of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma.

Sarah Deering

Director Geophysics and Ops Geology

Sarah joined the Forestar team in September 2011 as Director of Geophysics and Operations Geology.

Sarah joined the Forestar team in September 2011 as Director of Geophysics and Operations Geology. She has experience involving geoscience and operations of both conventional and unconventional reservoirs, with a strong background in horizontal and unconventional technology.

Prior to joining the company, Sarah was Project Manager and Senior Geologist for Quicksilver Resources Incorporated in Fort Worth. At Quicksilver, Sarah focused on evaluation, exploitation and development of their Barnett Shale assets as well as the Niobrara Play in Colorado. Sarah gained a background in geologic and geophysical evaluation of shale reservoirs and geo-hazzard assessment as pertains to vertical and horizontal development and completion of unconventional and tight rock plays.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics, and a Master of Science in Geology from Southern Methodist University.

Tony Gossett

Operations and Production Manager - Southern Division

Tony joined Forestar in September 2011 as Oil and Gas Operations Manager.

Tony joined Forestar in September 2011 as Oil and Gas Operations Manager. Tony’s experience includes drilling, completing and producing oil and gas wells along on the Gulf Coast, in the Ark-LA-Tex area and Illinois/Appalachian basins.

Prior to joining Forestar, Tony served as Operations Engineer with Brammer Engineering Inc., in their Lafayette, Louisiana office. At Brammer Engineering Tony focused on drilling and completing both mid-range and deep wells along the Gulf Coast and the Ark-LA-Tex area.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Minerals Engineering with a Petroleum Specialization (Petroleum Engineering) from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law.

Jack Renfro

Jack joined Forestar in October 2012 as the Operations and Production Manager for the Northern Division, as part of Forestar’s acquisition of Credo Petroleum.

Jack joined Forestar in October 2012 as the Operations and Production Manager for the Northern Division, as part of Forestar’s acquisition of Credo Petroleum. Jack worked for Credo Petroleum as the Operations Manager from 2007 to 2012, responsible for the drilling, completion, and production of midcontinent wells ranging from Texas to North Dakota.

Jack began working in the petroleum industry thirty years ago as an engineer with Mitchell Energy (now Devon Energy). Jack holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Tori Vandeven

Torie joined Forestar in October 2012 as the Exploration Manager for the Northern Division, as part of Forestar’s acquisition of Credo Petroleum. Torie worked for Credo Petroleum as the Exploration Manager from 1999 to 2012, responsible for prospect generation and drilling.

Torie has worked for 35 years in the oil and gas industry for major companies Texaco and Amoco, as well as other independents Unit Petroleum, Santa Fe Minerals and Key Production. Throughout her career, Torie has been a successful prospect generator, focusing on various exploration plays throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas and Illinois.

Torie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Missouri School of Mines, and Master of Science degree in Petroleum Geology from University of Tulsa. She also received a Professional Honorary Degree from the University of Missouri, and is a Certified Petroleum Geologist.

Ken DeFehr

Engineering Manager - Northern Division

Ken joined Forestar in October 2012 as Engineering Manager, Northern Division, with the acquisition of Credo Petroleum where he served as Engineering Manager from 1990 to September 2012.

Ken joined Forestar in October 2012 as Engineering Manager, Northern Division, with the acquisition of Credo Petroleum where he served as Engineering Manager from 1990 to September 2012.

Prior to Credo Petroleum, Ken worked for Phillips Petroleum and Axem Resources during his 38 years in the petroleum industry in areas including the North Sea, Mid Continent, and the Rockies. Throughout his career, Ken has focused on exploration, development, acquisitions, and improved recovery of oil and gas.

Ken is a Registered Petroleum Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Prior to joining Forestar, Kevin was an Advisor – Land & Acquisitions for Forest Oil Corporation in Denver, working various basins across the country in their New Ventures Group. Kevin has considerable experience in the Rockies, Anadarko Basin, Permian Basin, Gulf Coast, and Ark-La-Tex areas primarily focused on operations, business development, and joint ventures.

Kevin has over 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Energy Management from the University of Oklahoma.

Shawna has served as our Land Administrator since September 2008 and was named Land Administration Manager in October 2012. She served as a Senior Land Tech for EOG Resources, Inc. from 2005 to 2008 specializing in Regulatory Affairs.

Shawna’s background includes experience in Lease and Title Analysis, Division Order Analysis, Regulatory Analysis, Land Software Integration, and GIS.
